How to move and what to do in Procida

How to move in Procida, The Most Frequently Asked Questions

For first-time visitors to Procida, the most common questions are how to move and what to do.

Bike:

The ideal way to get around is by bike. We offer our bike rental service with customized packages to suit your needs.

Bus:

The public transportation service offered by Eav is very efficient and more economical. In fact, their 5 bus lines cover practically the entire island.

The bus stop is located at the Marina Grande port (the only port from which all ferries and hydrofoils depart and arrive).

We recommend the completely free Moovitapp service for tracking schedules and routes.

L1 – Departs Marina Grande – Chiaiolella terminus (crosses the entire island)

L2 – Circular line, starts and stops at the port (crosses the entire island, but with different routes inbound and outbound)

C1 – Circular line, starts and stops at the port (reaches the Cemetery – Postman’s Beach – and returns to the port)

C2 – Circular line (reaches Terra Murata – Former Prison and returns to the port)

L7 – Departs from the port, terminus Via De Gasperi, near the Hospital, passing through Terra Murata

What to Do in Procida:

Procida is the island of slow living, perfect for those who don’t want to rush around frantically looking for things to do on vacation. The island should be experienced without haste to fully appreciate the views, the architecture of the colorful little houses, and the beauty of the beaches with their dark volcanic sand.

A visit to the oldest village, Terra Murata, is highly recommended, where you can visit the former prison (Palazzo D’Avalos), the abbey of the patron Saint Michael, and the house museum dedicated to “La Graziella”.

At the foot of Terra Murata, you can visit Casale Vascello and Corricella: two villages that will literally drive photography and architecture enthusiasts crazy.

For other stops, we also suggest our guide to a 1-day itinerary.

Not included in the guide is a visit to the Lighthouse: a place currently in a state of some neglect, but very fascinating and with great historical importance.

For trekking enthusiasts, we recommend the excursion to the islet of Vivara, which can only be visited by prior reservation. Without a reservation, it is possible to reach about 3/4 of the bridge that connects it to Procida.
